Relationships can be a very volatile thing. Whether it's the mother of the baby you fathered that agreed to a deal and then acts out almost immediately to try to change it; or the heir who wants to control everything and makes court action necessary because of it; to the trustee who has resentments against a beneficiary so there's no distribution so lawyers have to be involved churning up bills that reduce the amount disbursed. Forty-one years as an attorney has convinced me that an office policy of grace and truth is the only defense. It allows you to swallow the grief, make sense of it, get the client to hopefully see that and plan action steps to resolve the problem. That, in a nutshell, is what this office does - truth is our defense, graciousness our weapon to deal with the ugliness of modern life.
