Jill Schlesinger, CBS News Business Aanalyst, during an interview on CBS THIS MORNING WITH Gayle King, PLANNING IN A PANDEMIC said:
"A Will is your instruction manual when you pass away". The Will lets people know what your wishes are. This document says this is where my stuff goes and to whom it goes. So beside a Will, there are two other legal documents you need to have.
"They are a Durable Power of Attorney, allows someone to act on your behalf for a financial matter, iif you are laid up or sick and you want to make a change in your retirement account or respond on your behalf in an IRS inquiry and a Healthcare Proxy, which has become so vital right now. This will instruct people to act on your behalf with a healthcare decision." For example, do you want to be cremated or do you rather have a burial with a cemetery plot.
These 3 documents are the cornerstone of every person's financial life.
"If you don't do this, you are totally irresponsible!"
