A power of attorney can be a most vital item. For the client who is 82, fading, fighting the effects of a stroke, estranged from his family, who, but for my assistant having power of attorney to intercede with Mass Health, Social Security, his bank, etc., he'd be screwed.
Or the welder who got into a domestic squabble, went to jail over it, and while inside, lost his father and has no way to address his affairs unless I use the power of attorney he gave me.
Or my father, who had gone through open-heart surgery, was on dialysis, couldn't walk because of spinal stenosis, and age made him unable to focus. He NEEDED someone to step in for him.
Everyone thinks they're bullet-proof. It won't happen to them. Until it does. Why can't people see that a few hundred dollars to perfect some legal papers could protect thousands, avoid millions of moments of stress and give what only MasterCard can give - priceless peace of mind.
