When you receive 6 copies of your spouse's death certificate, you think, great! Thank you to the funeral parlor that provided it!
In reality, all of the people you notify that your husband has passed away, need to have a copy of this death certificate for their files. Of course they do, they can't take your word for it. It's a legal document. Most places accept a copy of the death certificate, it doesn't need to be an original with a gold seal on it. Thank goodness!
For example, the time-share we own needed a copy of the death certificate so they can redo the contract removing his name from legal ownership. Ok, that's done.
